DEKALB COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are investigating after a body was found in a cornfield in DeKalb County.
According to DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray, several law enforcement agencies were called to New Bildad Road just before 3:30 on Friday, Aug. 9, after receiving reports that a body was found.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department said law enforcement found the body inside a vehicle in a cornfield. The individual was taken to Nashville for an autopsy to determine their identity and cause of death.
Officials said members of several departments, including agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), responded to the area to investigate.
In a statement to News 2, the TBI said the investigation "remains active and ongoing."
The TBI, Smithville Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and Warren County Sheriff's Department are all investigating the incident.
No other information was immediately released.
