GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 16-year-old is dead and a man is in custody following a Sunday night shooting at a Gallatin apartment complex, officials said.
According to the Gallatin Police Department, the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Residences of Gallatin on Albright Farms Drive at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11.

The Gallatin Police Department said the 16-year-old was seen breaking into a car in the complex's parking lot before the shooting occurred.
A resident told News 2 that her 20-year-old son -- identified as Adrian Wilkerson -- saw the teen breaking into the vehicle and yelled out "what are you doing?"

Authorities reported the teen ran from Wilkerson and that's when the 20-year-old fired a shot, striking the 16-year-old and killing him.
Wilkerson was charged with 2nd Degree Murder, according to the Gallatin Police Department.
The teen's identity has not been revealed. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Gallatin police at 615-452-1313.
No other information was immediately released.
