NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - It's official: A Nashville man is set to travel to space on a six-person crew with Blue Origin this month.
News 2 first introduced you to Dr. Eiman Jahangir, of Nashville, who won a seat on a future Blue Origin New Shepard flight this summer.
Blue Origin recently announced its eighth human flight, NS-26, will take off from West Texas on Thursday, August 29.
The aerospace company also shared a photo of the symbol embedded in the NS-26 patch, paying homage to it's six-person crew.
According to Blue Origin, the heart in the patch represents Jahangir's career as a cardiologist and his lifelong passion to reach for the stars.
The 43-year-old Iranian immigrant discovered his love for space while serving at the Adventure Science Center in Nashville.
Jahangir's trip is made possible through MoonDAO, a group of space enthusiasts on a mission to send more people to space.
This is the second time MoonDAO has sent someone to space, possibly marking Nashville’s first.
Blue Origin said the launch window will open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, with a webcast available on BlueOrigin.com.
