CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A jury has found a man guilty on multiple charges nearly four years after he allegedly shot and killed an employee at a Clarksville Chinese restaurant, according to the District Attorney's office.
Marianne Bell with the District Attorney's office told News 2 that Jaelyn Gant was found guilty of:
- First-degree murder charge while perpetrating a robbery
- Second-degree murder
- Especially aggravated robbery
- Unlawful possession of a firearm while being a felon
Gant's trial for the December 2020 murder of 28-year-old Seth Stephens began on Monday. The victim's mother, Rachael Stephens, had testified. Seth’s life was taken while he was working at the New King Mao restaurant.
The District Attorney’s Office claimed that Gant walked in, demanded money, and shot Seth when Seth refused to hand it over. Attorneys also claimed that Gant confessed the crime to his sister.
Gant's sentencing has been set for October 9. He faces a possible life sentence for the first-degree murder charge with more time possible for the other charges, according to the District Attorney's office.
