NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One man was arrested over the weekend for his connection to a stabbing that occurred in the men's bathroom of a South Nashville bar.

Officers who were called to the scene at 1132 Murfreesboro Pike said they observed the victim in a chair, surrounded by a large pool of blood, with a phone charger cord wrapped around his right leg.

According to arrest reports, the victim had two stab wounds; one in his lower right abdomen and in his lower right leg. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was operated on and determined to have critical injuries.

Three security guards who were present at the time of the incident told officers they were alerted by bar patrons that a man was stabbed in the restroom. The guards reportedly intervened, handcuffed the suspect and confiscated a bloody pocket knife that was believed to have been used in the stabbing.

The guards turned both the suspect and the knife over to police immediately upon officers’ arrival, according to an arrest report.

The suspect — identified as 47-year-old Carrasco Wilmer Gustavo — told officers that he and the victim had a long history of altercations and arguments with one another. The suspect claimed he saw the victim in a bar restroom and the victim pointed a gun at him. Gustavo alleged he proceeded to pull out his knife and stab the victim two times.

However, there was no gun found on the victim or recovered by officers at the location of the incident.

No surveillance footage was available due to the incident occurring in the men’s restroom.

Gustavo was charged with attempted homicide, according to booking records. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
