MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tuesday, the city of Mt. Juliet lined the streets with American flags to say goodbye to a Lebanon police officer.

Officer Brendan Myers died last week during an off-duty motorcycle crash.

Myers was a Mt. Juliet High School alum. He also served in the Marine Corps for several years.

All along North Mt. Juliet Road, there are signs of patriotism lining the street.

"It's really like a big family in Mt. Juliet,” Tammi Dyce, owner of Truleigh Scrumptious Sweet Cafe said.

Truleigh Scrumptious Sweet Cafe opened just over a year ago in honor of loved ones. “Three very important people in our life,” Dyce said.

Dyce recently lost her daughter, brother-in-law mother, and father. Her father served for the Metro Nashville Police Department. Her business is one way she carries on her family’s legacy.

“My dad was the one who taught us how to cook and bake and did cakes for our birthdays,” Dyce said.

On Tuesday, American flags were out front of Dyce's business. "My heart absolutely breaks for his family, it's devasting. It’s really hard to find the words," Dyce said.

Taylor Harper is the manager of Truleigh Scrumptious Sweet Cafe. Her husband is a police officer for Mt. Juliet. She said their cafe serves as a reminder of the sacrifice law enforcement gives each day.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with them because you never know what is going to happen when they leave the house especially when someone's in law enforcement,” said Harper.

“Anything we can do to show support and let them know we are behind them 100% and we support them," Dyce said.

A visitation for Officer Myers is being held Tuesday evening at Sellers Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet.

The funeral service is Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ.
