In a statement to News 2, the TBI confirmed that the police department is still open and allowed to operate amid the investigation.
In addition, District Attorney Ray Whitley told News 2 that it's part of a joint investigation that the TBI has been working on. There are reportedly no charges or indictments at this time.
Officials said they will evaluate what the TBI finds Wednesday and then go from there.
At the scene, a News 2 crew observed several agents who appeared to be focused in the office of area of the police department with folders in their hands.
In July of 2023, former Millersville Police Chief Melvin Brown and Assistant Police Chief Glenn Alred resigned from the department, citing "anonymous allegations" as a reason for the resignation. On Jan. 30, a new commissioner, Alisa Huling, was sworn in. Within 15 minutes, the new commissioner was the deciding vote to fire the acting city manager. The city attorney, acting police chief and fire chief were then terminated shortly after.
No additional information was immediately released.
