TROUSDALE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- An investigation is underway following a Wednesday evening shooting involving an employee of a Trousdale County prison.
According to the Trousdale County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a shooting incident along Browning Branch Road shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Officials said a healthcare professional employed at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center was driving a white minivan when the unknown suspect(s) approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots, hitting the van.
Authorities said Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Sumner County Sheriff's Office, and EMS personnel responded to the scene, even though Browning Branch Road only runs through Trousdale County.
According to law enforcement, the driver was treated and released. However, there is no word on the nature of the driver's injuries.
The Trousdale County Sheriff's Department reported the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and deputies are investigating the incident. No additional details have been released about the case.
