NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A man previously convicted of child sex crimes and drug offenses was arrested inside a Nolensville bank after allegedly trying to pass off a fraudulent $42,000 check earlier this month.
Body camera footage from the Oct. 18 incident shows Lee Brandon Kent, 35, wearing a trench coat and dark sunglasses inside the bank. The Nolensville Police Department (NPD) said he was trying to cash a bogus check.
Authorities approached Kent and asked if they could pat him down. He submitted, but only for a moment. As seen in the video, he became violent, so officers were forced to wrestle him to the ground, where he continued to struggle.
By this point, additional law enforcement had gathered in the lobby. One officer ordered Kent to comply, warning him she had a stun gun. When he didn't listen, she used that weapon on him.
The footage shows Kent hollering before the officer yelled, "Put your hands behind your back or you're gonna get tased again!"
Once he was taken into custody, Kent cursed the officers and refused to cooperate. As seen in the video, he wouldn't reveal his identity, he wouldn't stand up when asked, and he told the officers to "Go ahead and tase me again!"
When Kent refused to get up and walk to the police car, officers put leg shackles on him, carried him outside, and put him in the backseat.
Police soon learned Kent had served prison time for child sex crimes and meth charges. Detectives said the convicted felon is prohibited from leaving Georgia without permission. The reason he crossed state lines and came to Nolensville is currently unknown.
"It's an excellent example of how our banks, our community work well with us. We had a less than desirable individual here, they alerted us to him, and we were able to remove him from the community," NPD Lt. Josh Combs told News 2 following the incident.
Kent is being held at the Williamson County Jail on a $40,000 bond for a number of charges, including assault on a police officer. His next court date in Williamson County is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2025.
The NPD said Georgia officials have placed a hold on Kent, whose arrest in Nolensville violates terms of his probation in Georgia.
