MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Maury County grand jury returned an indictment for a Nashville woman charged with abuse of an elderly or vulnerable adult, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
A Friday press release from the TBI said that agents opened an investigation into Janice Marie Garrett, 66, after a January referral from adult protective services. Garrett had reportedly worked as a caregiver at a residential treatment facility in Mount Pleasant.
That investigation revealed that Garrett physically abused an adult in her care, according to the TBI.
On June 11, a Maury County grand jury returned an indictment and charged Garrett with one count of abuse of an elderly or vulnerable adult. The TBI said that Garrett surrendered to authorities at the Maury County jail on Monday.
Garrett was booked into the jail on a $20,000 bond.
