MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — Friday marks 12 years since a woman was found shot to death in Mt. Juliet just hours after she went trick-or-treating with her kids.

The family of Sara McPherson is still looking for answers.

“She was bubbly and fun. She had this huge head of hair, and her personality matched. She walked into a room and just lit up the room,” Gayla Moog, Sara’s aunt said.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 1, 2012, Mt. Juliet police officers found the 35-year-old mother shot to death in a parking lot of a storage facility on Central Pike. At the time, Mt. Juliet police told News 2 it was likely targeted.

"We just want to know who did it. My sister-in-law really struggles with the fact that it could have been someone that she loved," Moog said.

Moog told News 2 that just hours before she was found dead, she was trick-or-treating with her two young kids. Twelve years later, there are still many questions.

“Yeah, it's frustrating, very frustrating," Moog said.

Moog has taken it upon herself to find answers. She's part of a Facebook page Remembering Sara McPherson. “There's been some interest that was not hopeful, people calling homes and giving us false leads or saying this happened or that happened."

However, Moog said she wants to give answers to Sara’s mother so she can finally have some peace. “As long as my sister-in-law is alive, I’m going to try to get answers...I just want answers for her family."
