MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A Sunday afternoon traffic stop in Mt. Juliet led to the arrests of two men, one of whom was wanted in multiple counties while the other was wanted in multiple states.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) said officers performed a traffic stop along Pleasant Grove Road on Sunday, Nov. 3 for improper display of a rear license plate. During that time, authorities noticed a vehicle with a temporary tag in the window that didn't match the car.

"This seemingly minor violation led to a significant find: both occupants of the vehicle had multiple active warrants across several counties and states," officials stated.

The driver -- described by police as a 35-year-old man from Chattanooga -- was driving on a revoked license and wanted on multiple warrants, including the following:

  • Failure to appear on a dangerous drug charge out of Georgia
  • Failure to appear on a revoked license charge in Sumner County
  • Shoplifting charge out of Rutherford County
  • Two failure-to-appear warrants from Bradley County
  • Failure to appear out of Florida

Authorities said the 39-year-old passenger from La Vergne was also wanted. His charges included:

  • Two failure-to-appear warrants in Nashville for possession of a weapon as a felon and driving on a suspended license
  • Warrants out of Wilson County for failure to appear on a suspended license charge and simple possession of drugs

In addition, law enforcement reportedly discovered the passenger had methamphetamine in his possession during the traffic stop.
