Man dies after construction incident in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man has died after being involved in a construction incident in the Baxter area of Putnam County, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

A large emergency presence was reported near Maxwell Road before 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said that 41-year-old Joseph Kyle Lesko of Putnam County was working on the roof of a new home. At that part of the roof, there were several trusses in a temporary holding position.

"When one of the trusses fell, it caused a domino affect of 20 or more trusses to fall and pin Lesko underneath causing, what appeared to be, an immediate loss of life," a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office reads, in part.

Rescue crews had attempted to get to the man for hours. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said that their thoughts and prayers are with the Lesko family.

"This was an accident that turned into a sad and tragic loss of life in Putnam County
today," Putnam County Sheriff, Eddie Farris, said. "Deputies, Fire, EMS and Rescue personnel responded immediately, but the weight and force of the trusses were tremendous and too much to overcome.”
