NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A second tornado touched down during Monday's storms, the National Weather Service has confirmed.
According to the NWS Nashville Office, an EF0 tornado touched down in Wilson County on Big Springs Road in Lebanon.
Estimated peak winds for the Wilson County tornado reached 70 miles an hour and the tornado path stretched half a mile long in Lebanon, according to NWS. The path width was estimated at 50 yards, the weather officials said.
"A brief tornado touched down along Big Springs Road north of Old Rome Pike around 8 miles northeast of Lebanon," the NWS said. "Several videos of the tornado were taken from nearby residents and firefighters. The only known damage was to trees with no known damage to structures."
This comes as the NWS earlier confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Smithville in DeKalb County.
That tornado also had no injuries but there was plenty of damage to trees and structures, particularly along Highway 70 in the northwest portion of Smithville, the NWS said.
Several farm buildings in the area also lost roofing and a couple homes in the area suffered significant roof, garage and exterior wall damage before the tornado lifted east of the highway.
