NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — According to AAA, nearly 80 million Americans travel more than 50 miles for Thanksgiving, making it the busiest on record.
Whether you are traveling 50 miles or 500 miles, here's how the weather might impact your travel.
Forecast models show a storm system marching west to east across the country from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving through Black Friday. The main impacts will be rain and wind, but parts of the Northeast could see snow.

On Wednesday, snow could impact travel for parts of Colorado and New Mexico. During the evening, rain will begin over the midsouth including here in Tennessee. A few thunderstorms will be possible and that could cause some minor airport delays.

On Thanksgiving, rain will be widespread from Louisiana to New England. Here in Tennessee, the heaviest rain will begin wrapping up in the morning hours.

Thanksgiving will be cold, wet, and windy. Afternoon temperatures will only reach the 40s with northwest winds of 10-15 mph.
The big story after Thanksgiving will be the cold. Most of the country will experience the coldest temperatures of the season from Black Friday through Sunday.
Morning temperatures will be in the 20s and afternoon highs will only reach the 40s. The cold shouldn't cause many travel impacts, but you will want to dress for it.
Other than the cold, the forecast models aren't showing much inclement weather. There is a signal for snow flurries Saturday night into Sunday morning, but it doesn't look like much.

A lot of folks will be flying on Sunday. The weather looks great for flying across the United States!
The drive or flight to your destination could be slowed or delayed by the weather, but the trip home after Thanksgiving should be smooth sailing!
