LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — La Vergne police are investigating a possible road rage shooting that sent one person to an area hospital on Monday.
The La Vergne Police Department said that the shooting happened Monday afternoon in the 170 block of Fergus Road. A 39-year-old La Vergne man suffered from a single gunshot wound as a result of the incident and was transported to an area hospital. As of publication, that man is in stable condition.
A preliminary investigation suggested the shooting could have resulted from a road rage incident, police added. Authorities are actively working to identify the suspect or suspects involved.
There is no active threat to the public at this time, though authorities have asked people to avoid the area as they continue to investigate. Fergus Road was reopened just before 4:30 p.m. Monday.
