Agents discovered that the bald eagle had been shot. The TWRA added that the bird is expected to survive, but it will be unable to ever return to the wild. The agency is working to rehome the eagle to a sanctuary.
Harming a bald eagle is illegal, with possible penalties including a fine of up to $250,000 and up to two years in federal prison, the TWRA noted. According to our partners at Smokey Barn News, the case is under investigation.
