DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Dickson County teenager was killed in a crash Wednesday night, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
Joshua Lugg, 19, was driving a 2012 Nissan Titan west on Thompson Road when his failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the center line into the eastbound lane, according to the THP's preliminary crash report. Lugg's vehicle then hit the front end of a 2014 GMC Sierra before coming to a stop in the eastbound lane and a ditch on the south side of the roadway.
The 47-year-old driver of the Sierra was injured but no additional information was released.
In a post to Facebook, the Dickson County High School FFA said Lugg had been an active member of the association. The association said that Lugg showed hogs, competed in events, was a top fruit seller and attended multiple state conventions.
"Please Pray for comfort for his family, especially his mom and sisters," the post added. "We also ask that you please pray for our other students, advisors, and administrators as we navigate this loss."
Lugg's obituary echoes those sentiments, with loved ones remembering him as a "good ole country boy."
"He thrived in the wide-open spaces of farming, where he spent countless hours with International Harvester tractors and trucks, enjoying the earthy aroma of freshly tilled soil and the exhilarating freedom of the countryside," it reads, in part. "Those serene moments spent fishing, casting his line into tranquil waters, were some of Joshua's happiest times—reflective pauses amidst the busyness of life."
Visitations for Lugg will be held on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Another visitation will be held starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and last until 1 p.m. when the funeral service begins.
