GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Middle Tennessee sheriff said a "dangerous man" connected to a murder inside a religious group is off the streets.
According to Giles County Sheriff Joseph Purvis, the suspect — identified as Adam Rosenthal — recently joined the "Twelve Tribes" community and killed one of its members.
"Adam Rosenthal is a dangerous man," said Sheriff Purvis. "I am glad he's in jail. The community is safer because of it."
The Giles County Sheriff's Office reported Rosenthal stabbed Darren Gambrel to death in November. Investigators added both men were part of the Twelve Tribes community.
"Gambrel was stabbed multiple times," Purvis told News 2. "His body was found under a piece of farm equipment and had been placed there to conceal it."
Rosenthal is believed to have recently joined the community after experiencing homelessness. Both men reportedly worked at the Yellow Deli in Pulaski.
"They took him in, gave him shelter, gave him work for about six months," Purvis said. "The victim and Mr. Rosenthal knew each other through that."
In April, Rosenthal was reported missing from Gainesville, Florida. Officials added that he is wanted for questioning for violent crimes that occurred there.
Additionally, Rosenthal is accused of being involved in a Georgia murder that happened six months ago.
According to officials, it's likely that he will face a judge in Tennessee first and remain in Giles County Jail.
"It's a tragedy that Mr. Gambrel lost his life, but I expect Rosenthal is a suspect in some other major crimes in the southeast," Purvis expressed.
News 2 reached out to Gambrel's family, who, we're told, are not a part of the Twelve Tribes community. As of publication, we have not heard back.
Deputies in Giles County said they haven't had a run in with Rosenthal before the deadly stabbing occurred.
He was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault resulting in death, and tampering with evidence.
