NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Dozens of people sat outside in frigid temperatures while waiting for smoke to clear from their downtown Nashville apartment complex following a Saturday night fire.
According to Metro Nashville dispatch, more than 20 units were sent to a report of a high-rise fire in the 1200 block of Broadway just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Nashville Fire Department told News 2 the blaze started in a trash chute at 1200 Broadway Apartments.
Fire officials said everyone in the complex was evacuated by 8:30 p.m. At 10:15 p.m., the residents still weren't allowed back in because crews were reportedly waiting for the smoke to clear out of the hallways, but by 11:45 p.m., the road reopened and people appeared to be back inside.
