NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An 18-year-old was charged Thursday with shooting a laser at an airplane at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) and a Metro aviation unit helicopter.
Metro police reported a pilot at BNA advised the control tower their aircraft was hit by a laser. Investigators determined the source of the strikes in the Neelys Bend neighborhood of Madison around 9:45 p.m.
According to arrest documents, the Metro helicopter was also hit by the laser during the search but was able to pinpoint the area and guide officers to an area behind a home on Cumberland Station Boulevard.
Officers confronted a group of people and Destin Wyndham turned over the laser to investigators.
Wyndham was booked into the Metro jail and charged with two felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on a $20,000 bond.
