Mother, 8-year-old daughter struck by vehicle in Spring Hill

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WKRN) — Spring Hill police have responded to a crash involving two pedestrians, including a child.

The agency reported that two pedestrians were hit in a crosswalk in the area near Commonwealth Drive and Allerton Way in a social media post.

An officer with the Spring Hill Police Department added that the two pedestrians were a mother and her 8-year-old daughter. They were crossing the street together when a vehicle struck them. Both suffered critical injuries and will be transported to area hospitals.

The officer added the 8-year-old will be transported by air ambulance to an area hospital.

Police said Commonwealth Drive from Clavie Crew Lane to Farmville Circle will be closed as they continue to investigate. An officer with the Spring Hill Police Department told News 2 the road will remain closed for a couple hours. The road reopened at 8:20 p.m.

The status of the two pedestrians struck is not known at this time.

This crash comes hours after authorities responded to a crash involving a Williamson County school bus, which also affected area traffic. Though students were on the bus at the time of the crash, no injuries were reported.
