MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Motorists in Mt. Juliet ran into some delays Sunday afternoon while crews cleared the scene of a wreck that left two people injured.

The rollover crash was reported in the 200 block of North Mt. Juliet Road on Sunday, Dec. 15.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD) announced on social media platform X shortly before 3:45 p.m. the collision was blocking the northbound lanes of the road, so officers alternated northbound and southbound traffic. Just before 4:30 p.m., law enforcement confirmed all lanes were back open and nobody was seriously injured.

Authorities said a vehicle had tried to cross through a break in stopped traffic after being waved through by another driver, but it was hit by a vehicle traveling in an open lane.

According to officials, two people were safely removed from the overturned vehicle following the wreck. By 3:49 p.m., the Mt. Juliet Fire Department said those two individuals were on the way to a local hospital, but there is no word on their current condition.

"Thank you to our officers for their quick response and efforts to manage traffic while three lanes of Mt. Juliet Rd were temporarily blocked," MJPD posted at 4:32 p.m. "Let this serve as a reminder to always proceed cautiously and ensure all lanes are clear before crossing. Stay safe out there!"

No additional details have been released about Sunday afternoon's crash.
