NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department responded to a knife attack on a WeGo bus over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of a man after he was found still holding the weapon.
Myron Aldridge, 32, was arrested Sunday, Dec. 15 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Around 7 p.m. on Dec. 15, officers were called to WeGo Central where security reported a fight on a bus parked at the station.
According to arrest documents, when officers arrived, they found Aldridge sitting on the bus holding a large knife in his right hand. Officers immediately restrained him and he fought against the arrest, dropping the knife in the process.
While speaking with the bus driver, a WeGo security officer and a passenger, authorities learned that the incident began after Aldridge allegedly got on the bus and started making threats to other bus riders. The driver requested that Aldridge get off the bus, which he refused.
When passengers exited the bus amidst the conflict, Aldridge also got off. However, when the passengers reboarded the bus after he followed them, he also got back on the bus. The driver then called security at WeGo Central and made them aware that he was returning because of a "disorderly person," arrest documents said.
On the drive to the station, a woman stepped in to attempt to calm the situation, and a verbal altercation broke out between her and Aldridge.
The woman told police that Aldridge pulled the knife out and lunged at her, cutting her arm. Officers observed a slash in her sweatshirt in the same area where she claimed Aldridge slashed her.
The security officer reportedly stepped between the two to prevent any further violence, officials said. The security guard was able to restrain him until Metro police arrived.
Aldridge was arrested and remains detained in Metro jail on a $14,000 bond.
