Missing child located in Knoxville after AMBER Alert

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Elton Bailey, a two-year-old child who was the subject of a statewide AMBER Alert after going missing from Knoxville, has been located.

The Knoxville Police Department announced at 10:16 p.m. Sunday that the child is safe and more information is forthcoming. The vehicle included in the AMBER Alert has also been located.

KPD first announced at 6:20 p.m. that officers were searching for a gold-colored 2002 Ford Explorer that reportedly contained Bailey at the time of the theft.

Investigators were told that Bailey was in the car with a family member who stopped at a home on Old State Road and went inside while the car was running. When they returned, the car was gone.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an AMBER Alert around 7:40 p.m. The Knox County Sheriff's Office deployed their helicopter to assist in the search. The Tennessee Highway Patrol was also involved in search efforts.
