NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Just hours after the deadly shooting at Antioch High School Wednesday, a gun was found inside a backpack at McGavock High School in Donelson.

According to court documents, a gun was found in a backpack belonging to 18-year-old Victor Littleton.

Metro police said officers were called to the campus around 5 p.m. after another student told a school administrator that Littleton may have been involved in a cell phone theft, so the administrator searched Littleton's bag and recovered a gun.

Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) said there was "no evidence to suggest the weapon was intended for use on school grounds."

This incident is being handled in accordance with district policies and Tennessee law, which maintain a zero-tolerance stance on weapons in schools. The safety and security of our students and staff remain our top priority.

Littleton told officers he came to the school to play basketball with a friend and did not know a firearm was inside the backpack.

Littleton was booked into the Metro jail and charged with carrying a weapon on school property. He has been released on a $2,500 bail.
