NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A man is facing multiple charges after authorities said he rammed vehicles on Broadway at 8th Avenue South Wednesday night, adding that he was "apparently upset" about the congested downtown traffic after the Nashville Predators game.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said 24-year-old William Adams had driven around barricades when a uniformed officer, who was directing traffic at a fixed post, approached him on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The officer told Adams to turn off his pickup truck and show him his driver's license, but the Nashville man reportedly refused and put the truck in reverse.
Before he drove off at a high rate of speed, Adams hit three small sedans -- all of which were occupied by people who could have been seriously injured -- and narrowly missed an officer, according to law enforcement.
Following further investigation, officials said Adams was tracked down and taken into custody at his Ewing Drive home on Thursday, Jan. 30. Adams has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, assault against a police officer, evading arrest, and reckless driving, and his bond was set at $53,000.
No additional details have been released about this incident.
