RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The former La Vergne police chief faces a slew of charges just one month after he was charged with aggravated stalking, officials said.

According to the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), Burrel Calvin "Chip" Davis was arrested just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 following a domestic incident.

The arrest comes just one month after Davis was taken into custody on a warrant for aggravated stalking after allegedly violating an order of protection.

According to the affidavit obtained by News 2, Davis entered the home of his estranged wife and took her phone, along with her daughters’ phones, and would not let them leave or call police for help. This apparently stemmed from Davis wanting to confront his estranged wife's current boyfriend.

The report went on to say Davis got his hands on a gun within the home and threatened further violence against himself.

For this incident, Davis was charged with four counts of felony especially aggravated kidnapping, felony aggravated assault, two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault and four counts of misdemeanor interference with emergency calls.

Davis is being held on a $145,000 bond and is expected to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on March 5, according to MPD.

In December 2024, the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST) voted to decertify Davis after explicit text messages were allegedly found on his phone amid a sex scandal at the La Vergne Police Department.

No additional details about the incident and arrest were immediately released.
