NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Emergency services in Lawrence County worked to free a person trapped inside a vehicle stuck in water Saturday morning.
Lawrence County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) said just after 7:45 a.m. Saturday, they received a report of a crash with injuries on Turnpike Road near Saw Creek Road involving a vehicle turned on its side in the water.
According to LCFR, the vehicle had left the roadway and fallen about 15 feet down a steep embankment, trapping one person inside. Lawrence County Swift Water Rescue and Lawrenceburg Swift Water Rescue crews were called to help LCFR extract the individual from the vehicle.
First responders said they partially removed the roof of the vehicle and used a haul system to life the injured person back to the road in a stokes basket, with some assistance from deputies and EMS personnel. That individual was then transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
No additional information was immediately released about this incident, including the condition of the patient.
