HICKMAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A K9 unit with the Hickman County Sheriff's Office helped track down a suspect wanted by West Tennessee police.

Officers with the Hickman County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a possible domestic situation on Wednesday, but by the time they arrived, one of the suspects had fled into the woods. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the suspect was wanted out of West Tennessee for a weapons violation after having a nine-hour standoff with police.

The Hickman County Sheriff's Office utilized K9 Fuego, who began to track the suspect into the woods. After about three miles, Fuego found the suspect hiding in heavy brush. Authorities were able to take the suspect into custody without any further incident.

A social media post from the agency thanked K9 Fuego and other K9 units for their work.

"The efforts by these 2 K-9’s have saved countless lives within our community," the post, signed by Sheriff Jason Craft, reads in part. "I would like to thank our K-9’s, their handlers, and all of the deputies for the outstanding job they have been doing to help protect our community."
