HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Crews closed a section of Interstate 40 in Humphreys County for several hours due to a six-vehicle crash Saturday.
According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) SmartWay map, the incident was reported shortly before 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 15 at mile marker 138 on I-40 West.

Both westbound lanes were closed for more than an hour, but by 3:10 p.m., only the right lane and right shoulder were blocked, per the traffic map. By 4:05 p.m., all westbound lanes were blocked again, with only the left shoulder open. Then, shortly before 5:15 p.m., TDOT confirmed all lanes were back open.
A TDOT spokesperson originally posted at 1:26 p.m. that a four-vehicle crash happened inside a TDOT work zone, adding that there "is a current queue of 5 miles." However, shortly after 3 p.m., she confirmed the collision was just outside TDOT work zone limits, with a follow-up post saying it was actually a six-vehicle crash involving four vehicles -- one of which was hauling a boat -- and two tractor-trailers.
No additional details have been released about this incident, including whether anyone was injured.
