NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — There is growing confidence that severe storms will be likely in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky on Sunday evening through Monday morning. The weather environment will be very unstable and conducive for severe storms.
The newest update from the Storm Prediction Center has placed nearly all of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky in the Enhanced Risk (level 3/5) for severe weather from Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. A few far eastern Middle Tennessee counties are in the Slight Risk (level 2/5). Regionally, the risks go up to the Great Lakes and all the way down to the Gulf Coast states.

The latest time frame for storms to impact us would be from Sunday as early as 6 p.m., and likely in the early morning hours of Monday. This means we'll need to prepare for am overnight storm threat.

Based off the available storm ingredients (sufficient moisture, strong heating/instability, approaching cold front, and wind shear), this will lead to all storm threats to occur.

While Future Tracker does not provide the greatest data at this moment, you'll note the cloud/precipitation break on Sunday afternoon. Then, a line of strong storms moves into Kentucky by evening and impacting Middle Tennessee late evening on Sunday into early Monday morning.
We want to stress that this is a nighttime storm threat. Tennessee ranks the highest for nocturnal (nighttime) tornadoes, so knowing your safety plan and being ready to act fast will be important.
