(NEXSTAR) – There are plenty of fish in the sea, as the old saying goes. Unfortunately, there are far fewer exceptional chefs who can cook one for dinner.

Knowing this, the analysts at Yelp have sought to identify the top-rated seafood restaurants in each state. Using their extensive database of user-generated reviews, Yelp’s analysts first focused on restaurants with “a large concentration” of reviews mentioning “seafood,” and then ranked those businesses on the quality and quantity of users’ ratings.

The top-rated restaurant in each state was then compiled into Yelp’s 2025 list of the “Best Seafood in Every State.”

“And the best part? You don’t have to live near the sea to get your fill of fish!” Yelp claims.

Not finding your favorite on the list? That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s serving subpar seafood. Yelp’s analysts based their findings not just on the quality of user-generated reviews, but also the “total volume” — meaning that newer restaurants, or perhaps those located off the beaten path, could be underrepresented.

Yelp also focused its analysis on restaurants with high concentrations of the word “seafood,” which may not necessarily take into account any reviews which may focus on a restaurant’s specialties — say, chowders or lobsters — if they didn’t also mention the word “seafood.”

More information, including links to each restaurant’s Yelp page and highlights of their offerings, can be found at Yelp’s website.
