Nolensville partners with Williamson County to upgrade parks facilities

NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A historic investment is being made in Nolensville to clean up the town's baseball and softball fields.

It's a partnership with Williamson County to up their game in parks and recreation. As far as town manager Victor Lay is concerned, the pitch for softball and baseball facility upgrades was a homerun.

"Williamson County does a great job in providing recreation opportunities for its residents," town manager Victor Lay said. "To be able to be a piece of that is a great way to leverage what minimal funds that we have into something that is really advantageous for our citizenry."

Lay said that the project will cost some money.

"We had an opportunity to participate with them," Lay said. "The total project is $620,000, we are investing $120,000 of that. We're excited to be able to work with them."

Despite the cost, Lay said that it's worth the investment. Baseball is the talk of the town after the Tennessee Volunteers won the College World Series.

"It gives them an opportunity," Lay said. "It might open up something completely beyond anything they'd ever imagined, to scholarship in college to a little league World Series."

The project includes new lighting and upgrades to the fields. Lay said that this should be ready in time for Fall ball. He calls that a win-win.
