PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested in Putnam County Wednesday for aggravated rape of a child following an incident from several years ago.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said it was initially notified of an alleged rape of a child on Dec. 5, 2023. A school counselor had informed the office that the incident took place five years prior.
Three days later, detectives began their investigation. Officials said they discovered that Raul Baltazar Sebastian Pascual had been babysitting a 5-year-old child when he raped her in the home.
Authorities said Pascual admitted to the incident on Wednesday, June 26, but since he was a minor at the time of the offense, he must first be charged in Juvenile Court. A transfer hearing is expected to be held for the judge to determine if the case can be transferred to Criminal Court.
As of Friday, June 28, Pascual is being held without bond, according to the sheriff's office. His court date is Tuesday, July 2.
