2 more charged in deadly beating outside East Nashville Top Golf

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two additional men have been charged in connection with the deadly beating of a man outside an East Nashville Top Golf in June.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) charged 24-year-old Roshan Subba-Lawati and 22-year-old Kishor Tamang-Bhaii in the attack on Dahal Umesh, according to a Thursday press release. Both were charged with criminal homicide.

MNPD said that Subba-Lawati was taken into custody on Thursday while Tamang-Bhaii surrendered himself for questioning after learning that he was wanted. Bishal Rai, 26, had already been charged with aggravated assault in relation to the crime. However, MNPD added that Rai's charge will be upgraded to criminal homicide.

Umesh, 41, was a member of Nashville's Nepali community and he was attending a concert at the Top Golf venue when a dispute began inside, causing people to flee, according to Metro police.

Umesh was allegedly trying to diffuse the argument when he was punched, which caused him to fall and hit his head on concrete. He was then kicked in the head while on the ground. Umesh died from his injuries on July 2.

"The continuing investigation by Homicide Detective Chris Cote led to the identification of Subba-Lawati and Tamang-Bhaii as persons who were also involved," MNPD said. "All three men are jailed in the Downtown Detention Center."
