NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department was injured Monday while reportedly trying to arrest one of the city's "Most Wanted" fugitives.
In a statement put out at 1:48 p.m., the police department said the officer was shot in the leg at 808 Skyline Ridge Drive. Authorities said he was trying to arrest 31-year-old Miqueal Williams, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder.

Williams was added to the police department's "Top 10 Most Wanted" list last week after being indicted by a grand jury. According to detectives, he is believed to have shot and killed 32-year-old Samuel L. Edwards Jr. in March.
Earlier Monday, officials said members of the MNPD TITANS team received information about Williams possibly being at an apartment complex on Skyline Ridge Drive. Then, just before 1 p.m., officers reported seeing him coming from an apartment breezeway.

As he was getting into a car with a woman, police approached the vehicle and asked the woman to move away. That's when authorities said the passenger side door of the car opened and Williams got out, armed with a semi-automatic pistol.
He reportedly began shooting and the officers on scene returned fire. One officer was struck in the leg and Williams was wounded in the hip. Officials said both Williams and the injured Metro officer are being treated at TriStar Skyline Medical Center and are in non-critical condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. No additional information was immediately available.
Metro Police released the body camera footage of Diaz and Gonzales to YouTube. Authorities added that the video appears in real-time before being slowed because the gunfire happened quickly. Diaz's camera had reportedly not yet begin to record audio when the shooting took place.
As of 7 p.m. on Monday, Diaz has been released from the hospital, according to a social media post from MNPD.
