NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is working to identify a suspect who "shot and critically injured" a clerk during a robbery on Saturday night.
The incident happened at 9:20 p.m., according to a press release from MNPD. The suspect reportedly entered the Dollar General in the 500 block of Stewarts Ferry Pike and first demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint, but as the suspect left, he fired a single shot, which hit the clerk in the abdomen.
MNPD officers arrived and performed aid until the clerk could be transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). MNPD added that her condition is both critical and stable as of publication.
The suspect was described as 6-feet, 2-inches tall with a thin build. The man wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, stone wash jeans and white Jordan tennis shoes. He reportedly fled in an older model white sedan with one non-functional passenger headlight.
This man is also suspected in a July 12 Dollar General robbery in the 1800 block of Antioch Pike, according to authorities, though nobody was injured.
Anyone with information about the suspect has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463.
