Man accused of pulling gun on people walking to their vehicle at Nissan Stadium

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man is facing felony charges after police said he pulled a gun on two individuals who were walking back to their vehicle in a parking lot at Nissan Stadium.

According to an arrest report, officers were sent to respond to the incident in Lot R at approximately 2:49 a.m. on Friday, April 4.

The victims allegedly told police that they were walking back to their vehicle when a man got out of an Audi parked in the lot, approached them and asked if they were ok.

Officials said the victims reported that the man didn't ask for anything, but pulled out a handgun from his waistband and "pulled the slide to load the handgun."

The suspect—later identified as 27-year-old Mert Eglimez—pointed the weapon at the one of the victims, leading the victim to believe he was going to get shot. Meanwhile, the second victim said she ran behind a vehicle and called police to report the incident.

An arrest report states the male victim put his hands up and began to negotiate with Egilmez to put the gun down. Egilmez eventually placed the gun on the ground, leading the victim to control and unload it.

Authorities reported the handgun had one bullet in the chamber and 12 more loaded in the magazine. The male victim allegedly identified himself as a police officer and told Egilmez that he wasn't getting his gun back.

Police added that the victim took a picture of Egilmez's license plate and driver's license. The license plate later came back to the 27-year-old and he was identified as the man involved through his driver's license picture.

Egilmez was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with deadly weapon. He is being held in Metro Jail on a $15,000 bond.
