NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A convicted felon is facing multiple charges -- including aggravated kidnapping -- following "random attacks" against two women in downtown Nashville Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The Metro Nashville Police Department announced just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4 that 32-year-old Jacob Harrison Thompson was booked on charges of aggravated kidnapping, attempted aggravated rape, and attempted rape for attacking a 29-year-old woman at her car at Rep. John Lewis Way and Lea Avenue, as well as attacking a 30-year-old woman in a restroom of the Fifth & Broadway complex.

In the first case, which happened shortly after 3 p.m., the victim walked to her car after getting off work, but once she got inside, she saw a man staring at her, authorities said. The man -- later identified as Thompson -- allegedly ran toward the vehicle, got inside from the passenger door, and tried to force her to perform a sex act.

According to officials, the woman put the car in reverse in an attempt to get away, but she collided with another vehicle, so she got out and ran. A witness reportedly saw Thompson chasing her and yelled at him, causing him to leave the immediate area.

Then, shortly after 4 p.m., police said the second victim exited a stall in the women's restroom at Fifth & Broadway and noticed Thompson standing in the restroom. As she tried to walk by him, Thompson allegedly pulled her by the hair, pounded her head into a wall, took her to the ground, and tried to remove her pants. However, security staff and the woman's husband entered the restroom to intervene.

Authorities said Thompson ran down an escalator as security staff chased him, but Central Precinct officers quickly responded to the scene and took Thompson into custody.

Officials reported neither victim was seriously injured in these incidents.

Police said Thompson -- who is listed as homeless -- received a five-year sentence for aggravated burglary in 2010, as well as a 16-year sentence for especially aggravated robbery in 2011.

According to law enforcement, a judicial commissioner ordered that Thompson be held on $650,000 bond for Sunday's charges.
