STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A woman is facing multiple charges -- including drug offenses -- after authorities said they stopped her for speeding on her way to court in Stewart County Tuesday morning.
The Stewart County Sheriff's Office said Investigator Aaron Page noticed a vehicle speeding along Highway 79 on Tuesday, Aug. 6. After making the traffic stop, Page discovered the driver had a revoked driver's license in Tennessee.
According to officials, the driver "appeared to be extremely nervous" when Page spotted what looked like white residue in the vehicle.
The sheriff's office said Lt. Robbie MacDonald arrived on scene and deployed K-9 Harry, who alerted to drugs in the vehicle. Law enforcement searched the vehicle, which turned up approximately 3 grams of meth, digital scales, empty baggies, a syringe, and brass knuckles.
Authorities said the driver -- identified as 40-year-old Laura Wallhead, who had extraditable warrants for dangerous drugs in Ohio -- was on her way to General Sessions Court in Stewart County when she was stopped.
Wallhead is reportedly being held on a $13,500 bond for manufacture/sale/delivery/possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, driving on a revoked/suspended license, weapon law violations, unlawful drug paraphernalia, misuse of registration, and violation of bond conditions.
"A great job by Investigator Page, Lt. MacDonald an K-9 Harry, as they continue to clean up our county," the sheriff's office posted on Facebook on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
