MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — After a fire broke out at a Murfreesboro home Sunday afternoon, firefighters managed to enter the burning structure and rescue two cats.
Firefighters with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) were dispatched to the home on Greenhill Street around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.
When the crews arrived, they said smoke could be seen coming from the home. Firefighters were able to get the family's two pets out safely, and no injuries were reported.
Officials said the blaze was quickly extinguished. However, the damage to the home was "significant." The family was reportedly unable to stay in the home due to the extent of damage.
As of Monday afternoon, authorities said the cause of the fire was still under investigation by the MFRD Fire Marshal's Office. No further details were immediately released.
