NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Homicide detectives have launched an investigation into a robbery-related shooting along Patricia Drive that led to a Nashville man's death overnight, according to authorities.
The incident was reported at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the 1000 block of Patricia Drive.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said the 37-year-old victim's friend reported they were hanging outside his apartment when they were approached by four men who demanded their belongings.
When the victim fought back, one of the suspects allegedly shot him in the stomach and then shoved the friend to the ground, threatening to kill him if he moved. Officials said the suspects took the friend's wallet, passport, Guatemalan ID, and cash before running away.
Authorities reported the 37-year-old was brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died. Efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
According to the victim's friend, the suspect who shot the victim was approximately 5-feet 6-inches tall, appeared to be in his mid-20s, and had hair that was short around the ears and neck but longer on top.
Meanwhile, authorities described the gunman who threatened to kill the victim's friend as approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall with a long beard who appeared to be in his mid-30s.
