5 injured after shooting at Antioch nightclub

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — Multiple people were injured in a shooting at an Antioch nightclub overnight, officials said.

The shooting was reported Monday around 3 a.m. at Sky Bar Lounge in Antioch located in the 800 block of Hamilton Crossings. The Metro Nashville Police Department said officers arrived on the scene to find two victims, who were then transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Both of their injuries were non-life-threatening.

A third shooting victim was found less than ten minutes later in her vehicle near Brookview Estates Drive and Bell Road in South Nashville.

She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Two additional victims with gunshot wounds arrived at the emergency room of TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center with injuries believed to be related to the shooting.

An Antioch resident was driving past Sky Bar and Lounge when she said her car was hit by bullets from the shooting.

Another man said he was at the venue taking cover while the shooting occurred.

News 2 spoke with both people, who said they were still shaken.

Susan Collier said she was driving home from work around three in the morning along Hamilton Church Road off Murfreesboro Pike when she heard what sounded like fireworks. Moments later, she said bullets hit her car, almost hitting her.

"I felt something and heard some weird noises; I looked over my shoulder and realized there was a hole in the window right behind me," Susan Collier explained.

Collier told News 2 the bullets hit the backseat window of her rental car and grazed the passenger seat headrest. She said she was panicked but was able to pull over and call 911.

Across the street at Sky Bar and Lounge, Javarrian Boddie said the bar and lounge was packed with people eager to see a guest singer.

But around closing time, Boddie explained that he saw people running and screaming before he heard the gunshots. He added that he was glad to make it out safely.

"Waking up this morning thinking I dodged a bullet last night," Boddie said.

"This right here is like a famous little strip that everybody be at," Boddie expressed. "It's a nice little hookah bar right here, but I don't think they've got enough security out here for the people. There may be young guys out here with switches and stuff like that, and they are scaring all the people that come out to have a good time. They scaring me. I'm on the ground running."

Collier said she is glad the victims are okay but wishes people had more respect for human life.

"To pull out a gun when you have a difference and that's what you choose to resolve your issues is extremely sad," Collier concluded. "You know, brothers, mothers, sisters, your relatives, think of all of them when you just decide to do something like that."

News 2 contacted the Sky Bar and Lounge for comment but had not heard back by the time of this article.

Investigators were on the scene Monday morning and are still working to determine the motive and suspect(s).
