Five people injured, three transported via helicopter following crashes in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two crashes in Jackson County within the past 24 hours have led to five people being injured, with three of those people requiring transportation via helicopter due to the extent of their injuries.

A spokesperson for the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency told News 2 that both crashes happened on South Grundy Quarles Highway. The first crash happened at roughly 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20 near the intersection of Center Grove Circle. The spokesperson said that one person was trapped inside a vehicle and the Jackson County Rescue Squad (JCRS) had to extricate them.

That person was treated by Jackson County EMS personnel at the scene, but was later transported to a level-one trauma center because of the extent of their injuries. Two other people involved in the first crash were transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

The spokesperson added that a second crash happened at roughly 3 p.m. the following day near the intersection of Mccoinsville Road. Similarly, one person was trapped inside their vehicle and required extrication from JCRS. Two patients were treated at the scene by Jackson County EMS personnel and transported to a level-one trauma center because of the extent of their injuries.

Both crashes are being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). No further information was released.
