2 charged in connection with vandalism of Trump signs in Wilson County

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two people have been charged for political sign vandalism after several campaign signs supporting former President Donald Trump were defaced in Wilson County, according to Mt. Juliet police.

Mt. Juliet police told News 2 that a 16-year-old girl from Old Hickory faces two vandalism charges stemming from a September incident while a 75-year-old Hermitage man faces a vandalism charge stemming from an October incident.

“’Felon’ and ‘racist’ are the main ones,” Brad Lytle, chairman of the Wilson County Republican Party, previously told News 2, describing the messages spray-painted onto the signs.

The Mt. Juliet Police Department had received multiple reports about signs vandalized on both residential and commercial properties. MJPD Deputy Chief Tyler Chandler previously said that vandalizing or stealing a political sign is classified as a misdemeanor within the state. If convicted of that crime, you could face just under a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,500.
