Trousdale County correctional officer accused of money laundering

TROUSDALE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Trousdale County correctional officer has been accused of money laundering after she allegedly admitted to being in a relationship with an inmate and transferring him thousands of dollars, according to arrest documents.

Arrest documents stated that Nkoli Nwosu, who began working at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in May 2023 admitted that she was in a relationship with an inmate at the facility. She told authorities that she provided the inmate with contraband, including:

  • Food
  • A pair of Jordan tennis shoes
  • Several SD cards and an SD card reader
  • Body wash
  • Multiple watches
  • A contraband cell phone

As investigators looked at the contents of the contraband cell phone, arrest documents stated that they discovered that the inmate had paid Nwosu $1,000 for "synthetic cannabinoids (K-2) paper."

When investigators searched Nwosu's cell phone, they discovered transactions totaling $4,135 between the two. Arrest documents added that Nwosu told officers she would use the money to pay her bills and send money to her son in Texas to pay bills there.

In addition to money laundering, Nwosu faces criminal responsibility for possession of a telecommunications device in a penal institution and criminal conspiracy charges.
