NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that happened at a bowling alley in Hermitage on Saturday night.

Just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, officers responded to the incident at Hermitage Strike and Spare Family Fun Center in the 3400 block of Lebanon Pike.

Officials said a man — believed to be a 20-year-old Nashvillian — was shot and killed inside the bowling alley after being involved in an altercation with two men from a group, along with another witness, that led to gunshots being fired and sent people running out of the building.

Metro Nashville dispatch initially told News 2 the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, MNPD later clarified the victim was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner's Office is working to identify the victim.

One person was taken into custody by officers after the shooting, according to dispatch. There is no word on what happened to that individual.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, the MNPD asked for the public's assistance identifying a group of four people -- including two men who were reportedly involved in the fight, as well as two women -- who were seen entering the business around 10 p.m. Saturday and were wanted for questioning.

On Sunday night, authorities announced all four individuals came forward voluntarily and were interviewed by detectives from the Homicide Unit.

"A self-defense claim by the 23-year-old shooter is under investigation. No charges have been placed at this point," officials said, adding that it appears the two sides attended rival high schools and had previous issues.

No additional details were released about Saturday night's deadly incident. If you have any information about the shooting, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
