Woman stabbed during fight with teenage relative in Hopkinsville, police say

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) -- A teenager was taken into custody in Hopkinsville after an argument reportedly escalated into a fight on Thanksgiving, leaving a family member critically injured.

The Hopkinsville Police Department said a 16-year-old had a verbal dispute with his aunt that turned physical. The boy allegedly stabbed his relative in the back, but before officers arrived at the scene, he fled across the state line to Clarksville.

According to authorities, members of the Clarksville Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and Tennessee Highway Patrol were notified. However, while law enforcement searched for the teen, they discovered his ankle monitor had been cut off.

Police told News 2 the boy made his way back to Hopkinsville, where he was arrested in the 500 block of Millbrooke Drive and transported to Paducah Juvenile Detention Center for first-degree assault.

Meanwhile, the aunt was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in critical condition, officials reported.
