LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) -- With the help of license plate recognition technology, Lebanon law enforcement announced Saturday that they tracked down a stolen vehicle and took two people into custody.
According a Facebook post from the Lebanon Police Department on Saturday, Nov. 30, SafeNet issued an alert over the weekend about a stolen U-Haul out of Nashville. Two officers quickly spotted the vehicle parked at the Speedway gas station along N. Cumberland Street.
Authorities said they found a female passenger and learned the driver had gone into the store but fled when law enforcement arrived. Shortly afterward, another officer reportedly found a person matching the driver's description in the area.
Police said they confirmed the identity of the driver, who was charged with theft of property and driving on a suspended license. Both the driver and the female passenger -- who had a warrant out of Sumner County -- were arrested without further incident, but officials did not release their identities.
"We appreciate our officers’ swift effort to locate this vehicle and the subjects," the department wrote on Facebook.
